Good News For People Who Like Writing Good News

HIRINGnewsevents.gif

Oh, hi there!

While we're always hiring (tell us you know that by now, right? and you're going to apply soon?), right now we're looking for two kinds of people in particular:

1) News writers. You need not be snarky (why do people always think we're nothing but snarky? We have A. Puppy now), but you must be fast, you must be good, you must have a personality, you must be a huge media consumer, and you must be able to contribute articles several times a week. When news breaks (or when you break it), you've got something interesting to say about it that our readers won't be able to find at other media outlets.

2) An Event Listings Coordinator (title likely to change, you'll be glad to know). You can write a daily listings feature, in the style of Gothamist's (and many of the other -ist sites') Pencil This In. Every morning, you'd publish a post featuring a select few of the coolest things going on in the city that afternoon, evening, or night in a number of different categories, from comedy to art to music to parties to whatever else cool is going on. You must have extremely diverse tastes, and be an awesome writer and even awesomer curator and organizer.

Follow these steps to apply for either (or to apply to write or contribute something else altogether). If you're interested in doing the event listings gig, we ask that you apply with a list of three to five events (that we haven't yet written about) that are occurring on the day you're applying, and briefly tell us why each one is cool.
