Jason St. Laurent, Inside Out's Director of Programming, explained the cancellation of With Gilbert and George to the audience at the Hogtown Homos screening. According to St. Laurent, the financiers of the film re-edited the work after it was released against the wishes of (and without permission of or compensation to) the filmmaker. Kudos to Inside Out for respecting the artist's original vision enough to pull the plug on what would have been a well-attended festival screening.
