Several hundred environmentalist activists marched through downtown Toronto on Sunday on "Reclaim Earth Day." The exuberant parade called on the Harper government to implement an about-face on climate change policy and to implement the Kyoto Protocol.
The march ended with a street festival on John Street at Queen organized by the anti-car/pro-bicycle group Streets are for People, which featured games, music, and the famous Petition Car (pictured above). The Petition Car will be delivered to Queen's Park today at 2 p.m. Join the car en route from Bellevue Square Park in Kensington Market at 12:30 p.m. and help push! (Or stay in and sign the group's "Not one more dollar to Car Culture" online petition.)

I pointed this out on Spacing too - Queen is a pretty dumb street for an environmental parade since it blocks a streetcar line. Car-only streets like Bloor or University would have been much better choices since they are only served by subway (Yonge has a bus as well as subway).
Well, interesting point. But as you may not know, Streets Are For People make sure streetcars are able to pass the parade and are not delayed.
I should know, I have been to most of them.
In fact, during a recent CarFreeDay protest parade along Queen West, they serenaded streetcars as they let them by with the words "Streetcar! We Love You!"
