Following the unveiling of the EcoCab in Toronto last week Torontoist spotted the pedi-cab being presented to councillor Howard Moscoe outside City Hall yesterday. Moscoe, chairman of the Licensing and Standards Committee, turned down the offer of a ride around Nathan Phillips Square, but got a complete tour of the $13,000 vehicle's features as a small but curious crowd gathered.
EcoCabs are expected to roll out on downtown streets Thursday.

Of course, when we really needed them was on Saturday...
They're like the adult version of these!
Eric Cartman drives one of these. It's called a Big Wheel.
Howard's great uncle was the first licensed cab driver in Toronto, he had plate #1.
Does he also have a stake in the business?
I'd be glad if these pedicabs were successful, if they can help us get more bike lanes it would be fantastic.
I'm guessing but I think the show and tell for Moscoe was related to his role on the Licensing and Standards committee. I assume they already have all the authority they need for the vehicle as it's rolling out on Thursday, but perhaps this was a courtesy thing.
I'd like to note the heavy preponderance of bald men in Howard's circle.
I want to try that thing!
I can't wait to ride one when I am on vacation in Toronto in August. Good point about more bike lanes to help accommodate these velo-taxis.
Cheers,
Tuds
