Hot Docs 2008: Fallen Spirit

2008_04_26_sop.jpg

Now, we’d love to pointedly go on strike from this Hot Docs update, but, you know, there are possibly a few people out there who are reading it to help them pick what they’re going to see at Hot Docs, because they live downtown and within easy walking distance of one of the theatres. Or they’re willing to try and drive down (not that we’d brave it). As far as we know, everything's still running!

Obviously, we hate to sound like a broken record on the whole strike thing, but considering we have purchased tickets for screening this weekend and can’t go because we’re too far away (without using a taxi, walking for several hours, or trying to purchase a bike) we’re kind of unhappy with what’s happened, particularly on behalf of the filmmakers and the organizers. Still, as we said, if you live downtown, it’s worth heading along, as rushing screenings should be very easy.

Ugh, God. My boyfriend and I had bought tickets for a screening at the Royal for 2PM, and didn't find out about the strike until we got out of bed at 11AM. Ended up cabbing it to Spadina, and walking the rest of the way. Our walk home was an hour and a half.
