At 6:45 a.m., Cy Goldsbie spotted a guy spraypainting this message on both of Spadina station's Spadina-immediately-north-of-bloor entrances and was kind enough to snap these pics for us.

TTC labour issues and graffiti, together again at last.

Ladies and gentlemen, I direct your attention to a new public initiative...

Real helpful, don`t worry about the rest of us. Spraypaint away. Just a goof.

If I see an assholes spray painting anything on TTC property I'll gladly take their picture and call the police.

This kind of shit is NOT what we need right now. The fu**ing TTC is filthy enough as it is and these vandals are making MORE work for maintenance? How mature and responsible.

I hear the grafitti artists are going on an emergency strike so that they dont have to fear the abuse from the "davedave"'s and "DaveH"'s of this city...

I'm sure vandalist is all over this one. I can't wait for a 3 page essay by David Topping on the unintentional artistic merits of this piece.

TTC YOU HO THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT

So, Jonathan, your dad didn't stop him or take his photo for reporting him?

There is a difference between (constructive)street art/messages/activism and (unconstructive) vandalism and graffiti. I am not amused.

People wouldn't feel the need to graffiti buildings like this if they felt they had any recourse through the system.

Our transit system is now completely outside the control of democracy. The union might get a vote, but we don't. When the officials we elect have no power to solve the situation other than cave into demands, people are going to turn to more desperate measures.

It may not be right, it probably isn't helpful, I wish people wouldn't do destructive things like this... but when you take all legitimate options away from people, people will inevitably turn to illegitimate options. And as time goes on, they will get uglier and uglier. It isn't a matter of morality, but of sociology.

If anything, I am surprised at how calm the public is. Can you imagine what would happen if New York City's transit unions decided to strike with no warning, Friday at midnight?

We are third class citizens.

Jenelle:
It was difficult for me to stop the guy from vandalizing the wall as I was driving at about 40kph at the time. I pride myself on my ability to mult-task but I was somewhat uncertain whether I could snap a picture while steering the car with my knees. Unfortunately, by the time I did park, the guy was gone. The picture that I really would have liked to have taken would have caught him in the act so I could have forwarded it to the authorities.

(On the other hand, he might have been working for the TTC's signage department.)
