A Cure for the Young Folks' Blues

2008_04_11dannymarks.JPGOn Sunday night, local musicians will be playin' the blues to treat a case of the blues.

Blueslink [PDF] brings the Gary Kendall Band, Margaret Stowe's S'Women in Blues, The Danny Marks Band and all their low-down grooves to Jeff Healey's Roadhouse to help kids get their groove back. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction going to youth and families in the city through YouthLink, a program offering support and drop-in programs for city kids.

Danny Marks emcees the event, but expect to hear from 17-year-old Lucian Gray of the Quintessential Boys, and That Canadian Guy. Yes, that one—that means jokes about Canucks, chesterfield, and everyone forgetting your name, but remembering you for being a peaceful, "nice" northerner.

The all-ages event is free for kids 16 and under. For everyone else, tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door, which, by the way, open at 3 p.m.
