Portrait Project: Eyes on Toronto

    What self-respecting artist uses a flesh-coloured background? I normally don’t critize someone else’s work, but come on, this is terrble — thick, clumsy brushstrokes, no highlights, no discernible source of lighting.
    And in answer to the obvious, yes, I can do much, much better, thank you.

    Absolutely! I would use watercolour instead of acrylic, however. It’s certainly not an easier medium, and my feeling is that the artist should have chosen a medium she was more confident with (eg. watercolour, pastel, charcoal, etc., but not acrylic).
