Portrait Project: Eyes on Toronto
Sarah Lazarovic—curator of the garage-based Montrose Portrait Gallery of Canada—is painting a portrait of a Torontonian every day. Each Monday, we'll feature one of those portraits here.

Stephen Eyes puts his catchy name to good use. Eyes on Toronto is a live TV talk show held monthly at the Gladstone Hotel. Tonight, Eyes banters with Trevor Boris and Major Maker. You can also watch clips of Royal Wood, Bob Wiseman and others on Eyes' site.

Ewwwww!
What self-respecting artist uses a flesh-coloured background? I normally don't critize someone else's work, but come on, this is terrble -- thick, clumsy brushstrokes, no highlights, no discernible source of lighting.
And in answer to the obvious, yes, I can do much, much better, thank you.
But can you paint a portrait a day, Doggiez?
Absolutely! I would use watercolour instead of acrylic, however. It's certainly not an easier medium, and my feeling is that the artist should have chosen a medium she was more confident with (eg. watercolour, pastel, charcoal, etc., but not acrylic).
