PhotoTO: The Passion of Christ

StFrancisJohnBeebe44.jpg

For the forty-sixth year, St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church brought together the community of Little Italy with a procession marking Good Friday. Torontoist was there, capturing some of the faces of the neighbourhood event.

The first fellow is Joe Rauti, he has been playing the role of Christ in this procession for 39 years.

The centurion with the sneakers on is awesome.

Wow, these are fantastic. The second portrait (third photo down) is so haunting.

Lovely photos, John, especially the third one down. You must have had the works of Canavaggio in mind when you took this one -- lighting from the uppder left, rich, brown tones, direct eye contact. Great work!

I swear Jesus in the first picture just winked at me.

Sad I missed this--seems to be the best of the many parades that run down Grace Street.
