Close Encounters of the Queen West Kind

Watch it kid, they look hungry

People interested in alien abductions generally fall into three categories: people who have been abducted by aliens, people who want to be abducted by aliens, and aliens who abduct people. The folks at action figure maker Happy Worker are teaming up with several Queen Street West merchants to bring all three groups together for a one-night Alien Abduction Festival after work this Thursday at Queen and Bathurst Streets.

In addition to UFO rides and actual alien abductions for the lucky few, the free activities include an adults-only primer on alien probing techniques at Come As You Are, a do-it-yourself alien nursery and tinfoil hat-making clinic at 3rd Quadrant Comics, and a UFO factory at Bakka Phoenix Books. Alien refreshments will be served at Raq-n-Waq. We just hope they aren't using service tips from "To Serve Man."

The free fun runs Thursday evening from 5 p.m. through 11 p.m. at Queen and Bathurst Streets.
