I don't see Cera as Scott, either -- Scott's a bit of a dork, but he's a dynamic personality at heart, with the rock singing and the martial-arts battling and the absurd self-confidence to live his life the way he's living it. Cera's just not that guy; his thing is standing awkwardly in the middle of scenes and muttering the occasional barbed observation -- which works really well for him, mind you -- but I've yet to see him take control of a scene the way Scott needs to. Well, except for the "These Eyes" moment in "Superbad", but even there he's playing off the tweakers around him. That said, I have no idea who I'd cast as Scott Pilgrim right now, besides Neil Patrick Harris under a ton of makeup. He's got the energy, and we already know he can sing ...

I dunno, I don't really get a Scott Pilgrim feeling from Cera. Scott strikes me as a little more handsome and a tiny bit more naturally cool than Cera. Not so skinny loser-ish dude. Also I would like to take this opportunity to say book four sucked ass.

I don't think that you guys could possibly understand how excited I am for this. I have loved Micheal Cera since before it was cool to love him... Although I should probably specify that it's a respect for his acting love as opposed to a I want to marry that kid someday love - what's with that anyways? Dude's kinda scrawny and funny looking - maybe I'm just too old? Anyway, I think he'll make an excellent Scott Pilgrim. Ellen Page would probably make an even better Ramona - and it would be nice to see those two actually interact a bit more (since they didn't actually show up on the same screen at the same time all that much in Juno). Hrmm. You know, I don't think it is that I'm too old, cause I would totally marry Ellen Page, and I don't even swing that way.

I believe I was the last person on earth to find out that Michael Cera is from Brampton. To think that meeting him (and planning our very Italian wedding) is only an $8 GO Train ride away!

I really liked the Scott Pilgrim books but I don't see how they can translate to film. I think that most of the humor and style will go right out the window in a live action translation. The fun outer layer of O'Malley's animation style will disappear and it we'll just have a story about a guy in Toronto who has funny encounters. Also, I don't necessarily agree with the Michael Cera casting. I think he's really funny and I loved arrested development and superbad but I just don't think he's the type of Scott I'm looking for. Let's see who they cast as Ramona.

Good god, if they need extras I'll be there. I love the SP series and I've been following Mal's work since he was part of Maison Otaku and was still finding a style (Winged Misa, looking at you). (Romana Flowers? Who else but Ellen Page?)

I'm so utterly, utterly torn. I love Scott Pilgrim. I love Michael Cera. But I just can't see them as the same person. If he was negotiating to play Young Neil, absolutely, but Scott? Really? This is by no means a deal breaker for me, though. I'm still gonna see the movie. I hope they film it in my neighborhood!

I'd be really surprised if it wasn't filmed in Toronto. But if they actually go through the effort to shoot in the Annex, New Gen Sushi, Lee's Palace, etc,...it will be INSANE. Maybe they'll do an open call for extras!?

Considering Edgar Wright is officially not evil, Bryan Lee O'Malley seems to be involved, and they've all been in town a lot, I can't see how it couldn't take place in Toronto.
