Heave-Ho!

ryersonbugpush.jpg

It is, right now, just after midnight. It is very, very, very cold outside. And Ryerson's Engineering Student Society is currently in the thirteenth hour of shoving a Volkswagen Beetle around their quad, with more than ten very, very cold hours left to go.

Why would anyone sacrifice their warmth in -15° weather? This time around, the same zany kids who dye their bodies purple for fun (and engineering pride) are doing some crazy things for others—SickKids.

This year's 6th annual Bug Push will shove the VW until 11 a.m. on Thursday, all while rounding up donations. They have yet to reach their $2,500 goal, but the night and day are both young, and the mission can be accomplished with the help of good-natured, generous Torontoist readers, much like yourself. You can donate online here, or, if you're downtown, perhaps drop by with a donation, some encouragement, or at the very least, a hot chocolate—'cause without some warmth, these selfless engineers won't just be pushing a bug, but catching it as well.
