The Village of Yorkville Park rang to the sound of chisels and chainsaws on Saturday as ice sculptors took part in the Bloor-Yorkville IceFest Festival Ice Carving Competition.

I didn't know this was happening until Friday after work, I saw the sculptures on my way to Bay Station. I wonder where it was advertised that I, or no one from my office, had any idea about it.

I saw the one in front of the Colonnade over the weekend, then the rest of them while walking through Yorkville on Sunday night. A number of them had been damaged (I blame "Those No-Good Kids," or TNGK) and at least three had been totally smashed. Security rentals were in place by Sunday evening.

Jeepers, I hate noticing that not one of the guys pictured is wearing actual eye protection (reading glasses not really counting).

I can't look, tell me when it's over!
