It's Snowing Again, Democratic Debate Very Nice, And Somebody's Gettin' Themselves A Free Baby
Hey, did you know it's snowing? School buses have already been cancelled for today, meaning that children will romp and play in the streets and sabotage snowplow drivers and Chevy Chase will duel with a rival meteorologist for some reason and the mayor will declare it to be the "funnest day ever."
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have a nice, pleasant debate about minute policy issues. The debate was thus about as interesting as watching paint dry, even with frequent cutaways to all the Hollywood stars (Rob Reiner! Diane Keaton! Stevie Wonder! Ugly Betty! The Nanny, for crissake!) who paid a thousand dollars each to be seen looking politically involved watch the debate in person.
Confirmed: Canadians holding 18-20 detainees at Kandahar base. In response, Stephen Harper did his absolute best Sergeant Schultz impersonation, then turned around and exited the room very quickly.
Authorities still have no ID on that baby they found a couple days ago. The upside of this? Somebody's getting themselves a free baby sooner or later! And it's a pretty fresh baby too! Still has that new-baby smell and everything. (Okay, so it's horrible. Come on, the baby has enough problems without us all laying an unintentional guilt trip on the baby for being involved in a high-profile abandonment.)
Conrad Black's request to remain free on bail pending his appeal shot down. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Also, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Also, fuck Conrad Black.
Finally, the Hurricanes beat the Leafs last night.

Brilliant. What are you guys, 12-year-olds?
Pathetic.
Does everything have to be so seriously highbrow all the time?

I suppose - if you consider support for the stupidest, most expensive war in the history of the fucking planet "minute". Suffice it to say, I have a minute policy disagreement with HRC...
I am greatly offended by your comments about the baby girl.
This is a very upsetting time for the parent who abandoned her and will befor the infant in her later years when the truth comes out.
I would hope that future siutation like this will be handled with greater care and thought.
Forget the guilt trip thing that you mentioned.
Imagine for a minute the sense of deep shame and embarrasment the parent must feel and now have to live with. Couple this with the Doctor Smith situation--paediatric forensics, and you can see that there is a lot of hurt going around these days.
Comic remarks can be fine and they do have their place. But not at the expense of the vulnerable, weak and those with diminished capacity.
There are a dozen better ways to get rid of an unwanted baby while remaining anonymous and not putting the kid's life in danger. She chose, instead, to leave her face-down in a freezing stairwell in a parking garage. Her delicate emotions post-abandonment don't rank very high on my list of concerns at the moment.
Whatever 'diminished capacity' she may be burdened with doesn't make her actions any less revolting or any more tolerable.
free baby? eugh how tasteless.
but also, important to note that the police are saying that it may not be the parents who abandoned the child. could be caregiver, anyone who dropped her off.
If it was a caregiver who abandoned the baby, then wouldn't the baby's parents have already contacted the police about their missing child? I don't really understand the police on this one. Who else could it be but the parents?
