Coens Clean Up, Raul Castro "Elected" President, Mats Is Sticking Around

bardem.jpgNo Country For Old Men cleans up at the Oscars. The Coen Brothers finally got some big-time recognition with nods for best picture, best directing, best adapted screenplay, and best husband of Frances McDormand. In other news, a bunch of Canadians got nominated for stuff and didn't win any of it. (There! We could totally write entertainment news for any major Canadian newspaper now!)

Visa IPO expected to be worth nineteen billion smackers. MasterCard responded to the news by claiming that their IPO would be "priceless."

Raul Castro succeeds his older brother Fidel as Cuban president. Raul, who is 76, promises to bring "fresh blood" to Cuba's government, and threatens tremendous change. For starters, he promises to legalize "the be-bop music."

World's first commercial flight powered by biofuel launches. Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Airlines (and many other Virgin things), hopes that the biofuelled planes will cause less CO2 emissions. Unfortunately, there is a problem with that theory.

Mats Sundin isn't going anywhere. Maple Leafs management is frustrated, as they want very badly to lose games at a fraction of the costs they currently incur.

Toronto will likely see an increase of tuberculosis. Hey, did you know that with one-quarter of all reported TB cases in Canada, we don't have a centralized system of tuberculosis clinics? Well, now you do. Don't you feel better?

So happy about Sundin staying, he's the best. They should blame others for staying (read: McCabe and Kubina). Go Leafs!

Good to see the sinking ship that is the Leafs can keep the status quo for at least one more season.

The Leafs is the second most profitable franchise in hockey after (my home team) The Rangers. Who knew losing could be so profitable?
