Polar Bear Dip Makes Money, Pakistani Elections Today, And Have You Heard About This Here "Facebook" Thing?

The annual Polar Bear Dip is a success, raising $59,000 for World Vision Canada. This follows Toronto's proud tradition of really, really bloody stupid stunts for charity, like the Great Canadian Tack-Eating Contest of 1958 and the Who Needs A Parachute? First Canadian Place Jump-Off of 1971.
Oscar Peterson memorial concert to be held next week. The concert will feature speeches by Bob Rae and Michaëlle Jean. Because when you think jazz, you think speeches by Bob Rae and Michaëlle Jean.
Pakistani elections delayed to February 18th in wake of Benazir Bhutto's death. Pakistani political parties all agree that they need additional time to rig the elections after the chaos of Bhutto's assassination.
John Edwards's campaign is surging in Iowa, just in time for the Iowa caucuses tomorrow. On the other hand, not surging: Dennis "The Keebler Elf Of Politics" Kucinich.
Finally, 2007 was the year of Facebook in Canada, a recent study shows, with half of Canadian web users now possessing Facebook accounts and Toronto alone having over a million people join the site last year. What the study doesn't mention, though, is that ninety percent of them joined only to play Scrabble.

"On the other hand, not surging: Dennis "The Keebler Elf Of Politics" Kucinich."
It's interesting, we could have the perfect presidential candidate right under our nose, but if he/she doesn't "look right". Doesn't matter what they stand for, because chances are AmeriKans haven't taken the time to learn what it is, anyway. On the other hand, we have the idiot we've been stuck with for 8 years now because people wanted to have a beer with him. The same people that like someone like Bush will say, "I like `im, I dunno what it is, but I like `im"...will then say about someone like Hilary, "I don' like `er, no sir, I dunno why, but I jest don' like `er" (make-up your own stupid redneck accent).
In the immortal words of the maitre d' in "Ferris Bueller"...
"I weep for the future."
WBT, my mockery of Dennis Kucinich, while admittedly making fun of his weird looks, is entirely grounded by the fact that I'm quite certain he'd be a terrible president. David Miller is proof enough that merely agreeing with one's political beliefs doesn't a great public official make.
He's said some things that I agree with and some things that make me cringe. I'd love to see him gain some headway in impeaching Cheney.
I agree with your statement about agreeing with one's political beliefs, because most of the candidates are simply pandering and kissing babies to get votes anyway. I guess the one thing I like about Kucinich is he's not afraid to speak his mind (and his wife is cute)...
I think as of now, I'm leaning towards Edwards.
but yes, I have to admit..."Keebler" does come to mind when I see him.
I hate to admit it, but Amy Poehler is especially funny when she does her Kucunich impersonation....and just the fact the SHE is impersonatiing him.
Screw Facebook Scrabble, I've been flat-out addicted to Scramble (a.k.a. Facebook Boggle) for the past week or so.
