No, you are not mistaken; Michael Bublé, Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie are all passing through the city this week. Imagine Michael Bublé (for some unknown reason) making a vocal cameo during Ozzy’s sure-to-be "Crazy Train" encore? Best mash-up, ever! Or not. Ozzy, Michael, and that ridiculous idea aside, there is a show worthy of your attendance for reasons beyond an ideal encore.

On Saturday, January 26, The Tranzac will be hosting the CD release for Purple Hill. Primarily the workings of Owen Marchildon (ex-From Fiction), Purple Hill plays a collection of guitar-driven pieces delivered with humbled confidence and strong musicianship. With hints of psychedelic nostalgia and country twang, Marchildon’s music is reminiscent of past musical eras while carrying a genuinely relatable, unpretentious element which is iridescent in his emotionally transparent lyrics.

Openers Timber Timbre and Bruce Peninsula are also exciting members of the bill. Timber Timbre is a one-man powerhouse of haunting vocals and looped atmosphere. Taylor Kirk creates his man-on-a-tree-stump folk stories through multi-layered textures and sounds, built to height through a loop pedal. His brilliant album Medicinals was released last summer and was (by a landslide) one of Musicologist’s favorite albums of 2007. Just watch the video above!

Bruce Peninsula have definitely crossed your radar at one point this past year as they seem to be blazing a trail wherever they travel. This 10+ membership joins big voices, big percussion, and non-denominational spiritual anthems. Their sound is unique, relying generously on soulful melodies thickened by gospel-esque voices. Bruce Peninsula's live show always pulses with energy, consistently providing an entertaining set for their audience—suiting for the culture of the bill.
