Wild Toronto: Skunk

Wild Toronto is a new bi-weekly comic strip about the animals and plants that make a living in our city. Rosemary Mosco of Birdandmoon.com makes the comics, and would love to hear your suggestions (in the comments!) on wildlife to be profiled.

It’s a beautiful idea. I’ve always thought there should be more appreciation of urban wildlife. The mice that live in the subway would be a good one to do maybe.

Raccoons, subway mice, pigeons… uh… I think that’s it for animals in the city.

I’ve seen the odd fox and rabbit in cedarvale ravine and lets not forget the deer out at Pearson Airport…

South Leaside has many rabbits, a few foxes, and even a couple of deer and coyote wander up from the Don Valley Ravine.

Thanks, these are great ideas! Don’t worry, Toronto’s full of less-obvious animals.

    SQUIRRELS!
Also, for the information of the skunk in the comic: I am pretty flattering about skunks. I don’t mind their smell too much (well, from a distance) and they’re super cute. So you little guys are alright with me.

Cool! Always loved your work, Rosemary.

I’ve seen possums in the city – there was a family of them living behind my building. I’d never seen one before (they’re strange).

I love the way the skunk’s cloud-of-stench goes between the two panels.
    Wait, “cloud-of-stench” isn’t that flattering. Hmmm…effluvium? Now that’s classy!
