There Will Be Free Tickets

therewillbefreetickets.jpg

Oh yes.

There Will Be Blood is the latest film from P.T. Anderson (he of Magnolia and Boogie Nights). Set across turn-of-the-century America, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as a miner-turned-oil tycoon, and scored by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, the film is making pretty much everyone who loves movies lose their mind: Gaze upon its 95% on Rotten Tomatoes! Its 9.3 on IMDb! Its 382 Google results for "'there will be blood' 'best film ever'"! And it's not even out yet.

The film finally, mercifully, opens here on January 4. We (genuinely) couldn't be more excited about it, so we've hooked up with AMPR as a media partner for an advance screening the night before (January 3) at Scotiabank Theatre. As a result of that glorious union, we now have forty (that's 40!) admit-two passes to give out to our readers.

We're not really into doing behind-the-scenes administrative stuff over Christmas, so let's just do this: first forty people to comment will get an admit-two pass. You may begin freaking out immediately. The contest is now closed! Thanks to everyone for entering, and sorry to anyone who didn't get in on time! If we could give away 500 tickets, we would. We'll get instructions to the winners on how to grab their passes shortly.

Sounds intriguing!

Humm, wasn't a huge fan of Boogie Nights or Magnolia, but I do enjoy DD-L, Radiohead-ish music and cautionary rags-to-riches tales, so I wouldn't mind checking it out.

I'm thinking right now: "How did I not know about this!?" and "pretty please with a cherry on top give me tickets"

Is this the line for tickets?

Daniel Day Lewis and PT Anderson? Sold.

I am willing to beg for free passes.

I loved Punch Drunk Love - me please

I'm on the fence about PT Anderson, but I saw the trailer to this movie back in the fall and was hooked!!

Can't think of anything better to do in the early days of the 2008 then watch a film about greed and corruption. Yay!

maybe I'll be lucky and you'll get extra tix. Not often we see DD Lewis on the big screen. Usually he's too busy making shoes in Italy or something.

After removing a few accidental duplicate comments, the contest should––by my account––now be over, as of precisely comment #40 (Renrik's). I'll get details to the winners soon!

Damn you, flexible work schedule.

maybe someone's comment will magically disappear?

As # 19, I'll auction off my allocated tickets to the person who agrees to make the largest donation to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
