It’s an end of an era as the popular indie night Easy Tiger shuts it down on Friday after a 14 month-run. A hipster haven, Easy Tiger is responsible for introducing hundreds of people to the booze can downstairs of College Street Diner that is Tiger Bar. Midland’s finest, Born Ruffians (pictured), will take the stage and the Easy Tiger DJs will spin the tunes. Expect plenty of twitchy dance moves like the ones you see in the Born Ruffians’ new video for "Hummingbird."

CiRCA continues its promising run as a live music venue by boasting Chicago’s Lupe Fiasco in the main room this Friday. Lupe is ready to drop his concept album The Cool, which features "Gotta Eat," a rap song told from the perspective of a gangsta cheeseburger attacking the world and your arteries. As Lupe told Pitchfork, “It’s really Tony Soprano shit.” For those who aren’t interested in dancing to songs about food, there’s plenty to distract yourself with. Woodhands performs live in the Mirror Ballroom, Circle Research and New Kicks spin hip hop and electro in the SKYY Cinema, and Goin’ Steady throws down doo-wop in the bathroom bar.

If you're looking to get out of the city on Saturday night, there's a great option in Woodbridge. It's the Fourth Annual Soca Summit, and soca legend Bunji Garlin will perform. For those of you who aren't in the know, soca is a style of music that blends soul and calypso. D’enforcers International, D-Life, and Dr. Jay de Soca Prince are just some of the DJs manning the decks in the main room at Palazzo Night Club.

And then there’s this at Embassy: “Imagine the fusion of sex and ice, in an Arctic Playground. Join the throngs of people on the dance floor, all with an Icelandic setting as your backdrop. On Saturday December 15th, Mystery Entertainment invites you to claim your diplomatic immunity inside the Icelandic Embassy. Welcome to the Ice Age!”

Tiger bar has got to be the shittiest venue I've ever been to. Maybe that is the point or something.

Regardless, it's too much like my apartment.
