A Nice Change From “Buy Shit”

“Read a Book”
The words, it should be noted, were not written on the outer glass, but rather on the interior panel of the ad caisson.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen quite a lot of adverts for books in these things. I mean, sure, they’re… Normally trying to sell you the book, but..

  • matty

whoa they totally culture jammed us!

  • avoidinglife

Yay! Lets promote vandalism again on Torontoist! Enough with these lame grafiti posts already.

Nice, I saw this and was totally wondering when it would hit Torontoist :)
It reminded me of this amazing YouTube video called “Read a Book N****

  • Mark Ostler

So it’s written on the inside, eh?
I wonder if someone actually bought the adspace and this is what they decided to post. Of course, they could have done something flashier, but the small writing and the blank panel could entice people to take a closer look, leading to a positive, Reading Rainbow-esque message.
Kind of like when I used to wear t-shirts I had written on with a sharpie. People tend to pay attention when something looks half-assed.

    Advertising is the real vandalism.
    Yeah, I said it.

    woah man… like, deep.

  • rek

I wish Torontoist would do more to promote graffiti, really.

  • filmfat

I would suggest that people who do not want to have their media cover this should read the Star, or perhaps the Metro?
Hey ROM bomber, is this vandalism…or is this art?
    I personally think it’s awesome.
