Feeling Trapped This Winter?

Reader Ted M. tipped us off this morning to the extremely unfortunate ad placement on the Star's online article about an eight-year-old girl who drowned after being trapped inside her mother's car when it slid into a river: a Flash ad for Expedia asking the reader, "Feeling trapped this winter?" Whoops.

The ad server that served up the ad based (presumably) on only certain keywords in the article's content (just as it's decided that an ad for better headlights "so you have more time to react" is also fitting for the same article) is most to blame for this, but maybe someone at the Star can tweak a few settings to avoid more unfortunate juxtapositions.

In subsequent reloads, there was an ad for a "BOXING DAY BLOWOUT!" and one with the text, "Dashing through the snow / In a one horse open sleigh / Over the ??????? we go." There was also an ad for a contest to win snow tires, with the tagline "Get a grip on winter driving."
