Watching Your Step!

googlyeyes.jpgEver waited at an intersection with the inescapable feeling that someone is watching you? Turns out you might not be a paranoid android after all—at least not if you're at College and Beverley, where some arts-and-craftsy prankster (or precocious kindergarten student?) has added a pair of all-seeing googly eyes to the crosswalk button.

Now, on the average blue Monday, we might roll our own just-opened, still bloodshot peepers at this little cutesification of function. But Christmas is two weeks from tomorrow, Conrad Black is going to jail (schadenfreude counts as holiday cheer, right?), it's above zero outside—just barely, but still—and we're feeling remarkably less Grinch-like than usual. So, in the spirit of all things warm and fuzzy, Torontoist would like to encourage more such cheerful efforts at defrosting the cold heart of the city. Like, how adorable would that crosswalk button be with a stick-on red foam nose and a pair of pipe cleaner reindeer ears?
