Canada Wins Spengler Cup, Benazir Bhutto's Son Takes Over, And Happy New Year!

ghostbusternews.jpg Canada wins the Spengler Cup. If you are like us, your first reaction to this news was, "What the hell is the Spengler Cup?" It very probably has nothing to do with famed Ghostbuster Egon Spengler (played by great expat Canadian Harold Ramis), so it can't be that good. Give us a moment while we do some research... huh. Apparently it's a professional hockey tournament. Who knew.

Hundreds of people attend memorial for Benazir Bhutto. Well, the one in Mississauga, anyway. Presumably the memorial in Pakistan had a lot more people attending. Call it a hunch. In other Bhutto news, her 19-year-old son, Bilawal Bhutto, assumed leadership of her political party yesterday, because nothing says democracy like... dynastic succession.

Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan. Jonathan Dion, 27, was killed when his armoured vehicle struck an IED outside of Kandahar.

And finally, the TTC is free tonight from midnight until 4 a.m., so if you always wanted to see Bessarion station but never got the chance, you can totally make up for lost time!

Harold Ramis is awesome, but not a Canadian. He's from Chicago and got his comedic start there.
