We don’t tend to post too often about video games here at Torontoist, what with basically the entire rest of the internet being devoted to it (well, that and anthropomorphic Star Trek slash fiction), but we do like to make special note when some pleasant news of local interest comes up, such as Toronto as a Half Life mod or the Toronto Indie Game Jam (Which we, er, forgot to mention this year. Our bad.).

But here is some not-so-pleasant news. Outlets are reporting that Electronic Arts have delayed the much-anticipated Rock Band in Canada until December 17. Though no reason has officially been given, it's almost certainly to ensure enough stocks for sale in the U.S. when the game launches there on November 20.

Even worse, from talks with local retailers, it seems like the number of copies for sale in Canada will be so low that even if you’ve already pre-ordered the title, you might not even get it on the new launch date—and may have to wait until January, if not longer.

With anticipation for the game as high as it is, if you’ve had your heart set on rocking out on your Xbox 360, PS3 or PS2, it looks like you might as well travel down to Buffalo and start queuing. You could, of course, just learn how to play drums or guitar for real, but who’d want to do that?
