This Friday's Steam Whistle Unsigned is already the fourth in a series of independent music showcases at the Roundhouse, but it's the first we're really excited about. Really excited. Check out this lineup:

The Carps are the best thing to come out of Scarborough since... er... hmm. Right. Anyway, the punk-soul duo recently opened for MIA at the Kool Haus, and if they're good enough for Maya, they're good enough for you.

Opopo sound like a bunch of robots crashing a garage rock band's late-night jam session—which, if you're not sure, is a good thing. Plus, they know how to party! At Nuit Blanche, they were the kids rocking the 24-hour car wash across the street from the Drake at six in the a.m. Awesome.

And The Bicycles (pictured), well, they're called The Bicycles. What else would they play but sunny, free-wheeling retro pop tunes? And what else would they wear but matching t-shirts with giant felt Bs? It's all very Bubblicious, not to mention suspiciously happy, but we can't all be eye-rolling hipsters. So grab your best second-hand cardigan and your crush of the week and go... bop. Or something.

Also! Woodhands are DJing between sets, and we're betting it will sound more like between the sheets. Those beats are sexy.

It all goes down at the Steam Whistle Roundhouse, 255 Bremner Boulevard, this Friday, November 16. Tickets are $5 at the door, with all proceeds going to the Artists' Health Centre Foundation. Doors open at 8 p.m.
