More Fun Than a Norman Conquest of England

William the Conquerer may have been a great tactician and a bit of a bastard, but we’re not quite sure if he was a talented musician.
William the Conquerer (the band), however, is a talented musician. Five of them, actually. If you haven’t heard their stuff, you should. They’re a a buzzing mix of indie-rock and classical training, a blending of instruments and a quasi-seductive husky voice that makes you want to get up and show off your dancing skills (or lack thereof). Even the hip folks at CBC Radio 3 like them!
After playing a number of shows this summer, the band has finally gotten a self-titled acoustic EP together and are having a CD release party this Friday at 9:00 p.m. Club 279. Ten dollars gets you in and gives you a copy of the EP. Torontoist was at one of their concerts in the summer, and it was quite rockin’—we’re hoping for much of the same.
