As we mentioned in our Nuit Blanche photo album, the culprit behind that "Quick Lobotomy" sign you may have seen at Queen West's Tri Service Centre is our very own fauxreel. Earlier this morning, he posted a video on YouTube of his exploits, featuring some of the messages that he received from outraged/intrigued Nuit Blanche participants. It's lobotoriffic!

It seems like all of the callers save for the guy who is pissed "get" it.
That said, for older people who have met people with lobotomies it's not a joke. People used to be thrown into institutions and subsequently lobotomized against their will.
Maybe this was clever for some, but i can see why that guy was upset.
Easily one of the best billboard liberations ever.
We only became aware of the "quick divorce" and "U.S. pardon" signs during our first Valentine's Day heart-painting event, and subsequently made fun of them for two years. Fauxreel has taken it to another level, and it rocks :D
"It's lobotoriffic!"
I have to say, without any hesitation, that is the cheesiest, corniest, laziest thing ever written on this site. No, strike that, on the world wide web.
And can anyone blame me for not adding my email, and thus avoiding a personal email from David Topping regarding my objections to the use of "lobotoriffic"?
David is going to email you and explain why you don't "get it" on as many levels as he does, guest, 3.
No-one's gonna argue with you that calling the billboard "lobotoriffic" is cheesy and corny. And of course it's lazy. Combining "lobotomy" + "terrific" didn't take too much work.
Neither did the concept or execution of that billboard, apparently.
It reminds me of an adbusters ad circa 1997
A hijacked billboard about lobotomies just a few blocks from CAMH is really in poor taste. What an asshole.
Davedave: What? That's a stretch if I ever read one.
It's not really a stretch considering Toronto has so many mentally ill homeless people.
Maybe if he wrote "Thorazine, $300" it would be better.
299 dollars and 97 cents....299 dollars and 98 cents...299 dollars and 99 cents....300!
OK, What's that number?
Does anyone know the name to the background music???? Anyone?
Hijacking billboards...wonderful. Using the hijacked space to make light of the horrendous suffering of people...grotesque, uninspired, lazy. I could make a better piece, and I have brain damage thanks to psychiatric treatment.
You're a hack.
