Hard Liquor And Porn? Yes, Please!

2007_10_10hlandp.jpg

Chances are, if you're like us, your first experience with pornography was a mix of titillation, curiousity, and shame. Maybe it's still that way, but at least for one weekend you can be free from shame if you join fellow pervs at the Hard Liquor And Porn Film Festival.

Eight years ago, Darryl Gold threw a party and invited guests to bring booze and their favourite porn scene. When one party-goer decided to bring his own porn, Gold came up with the idea for a film festival that wasn't like any other film festival. He wanted one that would give him an excuse to dress up like a porn star each year. One that would entitle him to throw massive parties attended only by people dressed like porn stars. One that featured funny movies about sex that were under four minutes long. Oh, and it had to feature movies that were definitely not boring.

This year's selections include an animated rendition of what might have happened behind the scenes of the Ridley Scott movie Gladiator. We won't ruin it for you, but Russell Crowe's animated penis does make an appearance. It also features a movie talking about sex toys which features the amazing line, "We've shoved all kinds of food groups out of my vagina." We can't make this stuff up.

If you want to join in on the fun, head on over to the Bloor Cinema this Saturday, October 13 at 8 p.m. The pre-party starts at 7 p.m., and features a licensed bar right in the theatre. If that's not enough partying for you, head on over to the Annex Wreckroom for the after party. Dress code is porn star casual, and there's some fantastic prizes for costumes.

Still from "Strip Show" thanks to GAT.

You forgot to mention that this year's festival features movies in 3-D. That fact alone is worth the price of admission!
