Queen: We Will Walk You

There are a shitload of pedestrian- and public space-themed events going on Sunday afternoon: P.S. Kensington, Word on the Street, the below-mentioned Not Blanche, and the "Our Streets – inserting oneself into the municipal process" pre-Walk21 workshop. But for raw pedestrianism, nothing is going to beat the Great Queen Street Psychogeographic Walk, organized by Spacing and the Toronto Psychogeography Society.

Essentially, it's a walk. A big walk. Along Queen Street. All of Queen Street. Departing from Roncesvalles at 2:00, it will conclude at the R.C. Harris Filtration Plant at the edge of the Beaches several hours later. And there will be people. Lots of people. "As many as a thousand," according to the National Post. In a thoroughly-kickass-but-not-online cartoon in today's Star (pages ID4-5) by former Torontoist editor Sarah Lazarovic, it's called "a collective saunter, one the organizers liken to a 'mobile cocktail party....A party that'll keep moving, so you can take detours and meet up with the group as necessary."

And, to answer the question you're thinking, 14 km (8.7 miles).
