Makeover For The Citytv Truck

With Citytv moving out of 299 Queen West as part of the Rogers-CTVglobemedia deal, some alarm was raised over the fate of the CityPulse truck—long a fixture of Queen and John. Too complicated to dismantle and acknowledged as a downtown tourist landmark, it was announced that the famous artwork (or eyesore, depending on who you're talking to) would stay put.
Now that the two entities are to be officially severed and City News is to leave its long-term home, the truck enjoyed a new paint job this week—a minor affair which swapped the "Live Eye CityPulse" livery with a stock CP24 "Breaking News" motif. Interestingly, the faux-rust airbrushing and petrified pigeon poop stayed put.

Much better than taking it down. I imagine CTV decided that since it now owns CP24 it would be better to keep the landmark but with a new paint job. I don't think people much care what it says, so long as it remains in place. Maybe now they can work on repairing the blown lights.
i think even the paint job is pure stupidity why re-write history
I have to kinda agree...it would have been cool to keep the jank City Pulse retro paint job, even though they were moving out—kinda like Sears keeping the name "Eaton Centre" for historical reasons. Part of what made the truck so cool was that it was the actual design from those old, classic City trucks. Now the beat-up vibe doesn't match with the new logos. Too late now...at least they kept it up, anyway.
No reason for it other than to insult our intelligence and the fact that "city pulse" was re-branded when other CITY stations in other cities found it hard to market the "city pulse" brand.. which is when it became "city news".
It looks really silly now.
