Ontario Conservative leader John "The Tory" Tory has promised that if elected a Conservative government would allocate $800 million to public transit in the province. Tory also confessed that it has been a long-time dream of his to one day ride on a streetcar, but that his chauffeur wasn't yet licensed to drive one.

David Crombie has been named "community liaison official' in the sometimes violent land claim dispute between the First Nations and other residents of the Caledonia area. Crombie is a former mayor of Toronto and 1980s Conservative Cabinet Minister who has spent the last couple of decades being appointed to things, and is expected to provide some much-needed distraction so the provincial and federal governments can continue to ignore the situation.

At the Emmys last night, the Sopranos won for best drama, and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore scored an award for his cable channel Current TV to add to his Oscar for An Inconvenient Truth. 2008 is expected to be the year when Gore will add Grammy, Pulitzer, Nobel, and Teen Choice prizes as well as an Olympic decathlon medal to his trophy cabinet.

Former football star and non-murderer OJ Simpson has been arrested in Las Vegas and charged with armed robbery following a complaint from a sports memorabilia dealer. Simpson protested that he was not guilty of this crime or of any crime he had been accused of in the past or that he might commit in the future.
