Little Millionaires, Big Hearts

The Little Millionaires are so good, it took Torontoist several days to get over their righteous awesomeness in order to attempt a description of their sonic mightiness. Formed from the ashes of the phenomenal Bombs Over Providence, TLM balance the driving pop elements of Bombs’ punk rock aggression and step up the hardcore element in their sound considerably. The result had a full room at Sneaky Dee’s rocking out sincerely to a short, sweet set of originals and two (two!) Mclusky covers. Yes, that Mclusky.

Opening for LA’s Mika Miko, and performing alongside I Can Put My Arm Back On You Can’t, Thundrah, and the Mutators, TLM were stuck smack-dab in the middle of a solid bill on which they were easily the outright loudest, and, less easily, the most exciting. While comparisons to Bombs are easy, the band is less immediately accessible (in a great way), instead pushing more violent, staccato rhythms and harsher vocals. While they aren’t returning to Toronto until October 17, anyone with access to a car would do well to check them out in Burlington tonight, performing at Clancey's with the brilliantly fun Saint Alvia Cartel. If the 905 is just too big a trek, make sure to check out the band’s demos on their MySpace, and stay tuned for a full-length, the recording of which is slated to commence this fall.
