Illustration Sunday: Benny Hinn’s Flying High

2007_08_19_IS_Hinn.jpg
Faith Healer or crook, you be the judge, but Benny Hinn and his Miracle Crusade appeared at Toronto’s ACC this weekend. Controversy surrounds the televangelist over his lavish expenses, which include an eight million dollar home and a four million dollar private jet. Fortunately, Hinn won’t have to live in this manner for much longer. Word on the street has him upgrading to a thirty-six million dollar jet to aid in his mission: “winning the lost at any cost.”

    Crook.
Right up there with Peter Popoff and the rest of those scumbags who steal from the desperate.

    Crook.
Had I been of a more cynical disposition, I’d have gone into religion; that’s where the real money is!

That’s why I’m always wary of religion. It always seems hypocritical in one way or another. I never understood, while I was taking part in the invasion of Iraq, why the chaplain gave us these prayers when we were about to go out and basically kill another human being.

who do you blame? people like Hinn or Oral Robertson or any of the US religious crackpots who’ve become rich because of their “crusades”?
hell, the Vatican is bloody wealthy yet i hear no one complain about that. they have a huge collection of art – for what?
or do we blame Joe Dummy who puts more coins into the hat being passed around at church, or who buys tickets for an intimate evening with Hinn and thousands of his supporters in the comfy confindes of the ACC?
let this guy get rich off of fools. this is is Snake Oil, his Pet Rock. he’s selling instant salvation and hey, if it makes people happy to buy it, let him sell it.
