Hi Ci Ya, Hold Tight

spicegirlsforsomereason.jpg

Apparently, we really really really wanna zig a zig, hah.

The CBC reports today that the Spice Girls are coming to Toronto in January 2008. Toronto's Spice Girls fans (there are, apparently, some) "outvoted fans in Rio, Chicago, Paris, Baghdad and Alice Springs in an online contest to get the group to perform in the city." (This is why Baghdad is on that list, by the way.) 'Cause if there's anything this city is good at, it's voting on things, damnit!

We moonwalk the foxtrot and polka the salsa...shake it shake it shake it. HAKA!

I never knew what they were singing. I was pretty sure it was "someone's always down, with bodies all around" when I was a kid, which, really, sounds quite morbid.

I love that pic. You can see the coke glistening in their eyes.

I love how Torontonians are good at at least one thing: sitting on their asses in front of the computer...

First we get the prize of most Facebookers per capita in the world... now we won an online ballot to be named Spice City.

It's nice that we can truly rally together for important causes such as these... and I'm happy to say I'm guilty on both counts...

Could this post be any more insufferable?

"there are, apparently, some"

Just let people like what they like -- nobody (except other indie rock assholes) gets in your face for liking what you like. Let peopel be *happy* if something makes them happy.

This attitude seeps into nearly everything on this blog.

Do the "ist" publishers make you write like ass-snob teenagers, or do you do that on your own?

You got me! That barely-half-serious article I wrote on the internet was really up in the face of those Spice Girls fans!

It's no "Chocolate Rain", but I love the song "Viva Forever" and I don't care who knows it!

After seeing Victoria Beckham in her Coming To America special, I totally like her as well—even though she always strikes that extra-wide leg, hip-out pose and it looks like she's wiping her butt in the photo above.

Marc: Agreed on both points.

This is just sad, oh so very sad. What more can one say.

Guest #9, I am absolutely honored that my "jumping five feet in the air" face is now a part of the Spice Girls. Thank you.

THIS IS SOOOOOOO INCREDIBLE. SOOOOOOOO INCREDIBLE!!

and come on TOist (er, David), you HAVE to like them, even if it is ironically.

Oh, I don't dislike them, I just wouldn't say I'm a fan. I have 0 Spice Girls songs on my iPod, and I think I might actually have been slightly too young and too boy-y for the Spice Girls, if that makes sense. That said, I did like that one song, "Goodbye."
