Brian Joseph Davis Is The Definitive Host

BrianJosephDavis_1August07.jpg

If you're looking for something to do this Friday night—while abstaining from burning any holes in your pockets—you could mosey on down to the Mercer Union for some definitive hosting by Brian Joseph Davis.

To celebrate the "oversized" release of Davis' newest work and adding to his long list of other works, Blocks Recording Club is having a summer release party. The Definitive Host is a collection of Davis' large array of sound and music projects, including the newly remixed internet project, Ten Banned Albums Burned, Then Played (you can preview some of The Definitive Host here).

The musical forecast for the evening will begin with a short DJ set by Davis, followed by a live, excerpted performance of Greatest Hit—simultaneously playing all the tracks of the greatest hits albums of The Carpenters and Whitney Houston, with the help of the audience and 12 CD players.

Accompanying Davis will be Katie Stelmanis, former member of Galaxy, who also sings in the chorale piece "Eula," the first track of The Definitive Host. In addition, Neu Phase, will make a musical appearance, a full drum kit performance by Steven Kado (one of Blocks Recording Club's current elected board members) and Colin Fisher.

The event begins at 9 p.m. and it's free (37 Lisgar Street).
