Torontoist has always had a soft spot for felines, which is why we think you should know about an excellent kitty-benefiting event taking place this weekend.

For ten years, the Annex Cat Rescue has been taking good care of stray and feral cats in and around the Annex. Their good work includes finding good homes for stray and injured cats, helping to humanely control the cat population, and monitoring feral cats for illness. The ACR is a registered Canadian charity, is 100% volunteer-run, and is pretty darn spiffy.

This Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Annex Cat Rescue will be holding a yard sale on Howland Avenue (just south of Dupont, two blocks east of Bathurst). There should be a whole bunch of fun trinkets, doodads, and curiosities for sale. They’re also selling gifts that you can give to your own cats. Best of all, a percentage of the proceeds will be going towards the Annex Cat Rescue, thus helping out kitties.

Check it out. If you can’t make it, you could always donate or even adopt a cat in need if you feel that you could provide it with a good home.
