The Daily Photoist: Sunrise

Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

While urban exploration has seen better times in our city, it is not impossible to still stumble upon gems like this picture of the old Richard L. Hearn Generating Station, taken by regular Torontoist pool contributor Ride My Pony. It's almost sad how such jarring leftovers of our industrial lifestyle can still seem so hauntingly beautiful. Once your brain finally makes sense of the scale of the place (look at the stairs to the right!), it can be shocking to realize just how many of these vast, empty buildings may still lay unkempt.
