The Daily Photoist: lantern boat 2810

Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

If you're still short on plans for this weekend, go out and see the Chinese Lantern Festival, running until October at Ontario Place. This year they're featuring some forty giant illuminated lantern installations, courtesy of sixty Chinese master craftsmen, drawing on themes from the Qin, Tang and Song dynasties. Once there, you can also indulge in your favourite culinary stereotypes at a local Mandarin restaurant and even see 1989's The First Emperor of China in IMAX.

In the meantime, you could also check out this dreamy picture above by Soluta, which we couldn't help but notice.

At $25 a person, seeing the lantern festival sure doesn't come cheap. I think I'll pass.

Fantastic photo!

The year 2810 sure is bright and colourful. I wonder what kind of wild adventures the crew of Lantern Boat go on.
