Live Baby Live: July 3–8

We could begin this week by rambling on about how we're into the second half of the year already (really?!) or tell you all about our Canada Day weekend, but let's just get straight to it this week. Go see The White Stripes on Thursday. If there's one show you go to this entire summer, this is the one. Really. We recently saw the Stripes at Bonnaroo and they were bloody awesome...definitely one of the festival highlights. The show's not sold out yet, oddly, so get on it. Not only that, but you may have heard that they're performing these secret shows in each city of their cross-Canada tour, so keep your ear to the ground for a Toronto show (and let us know if you hear anything)!

Okay, we'll stop being all fanboy...uh, girl. Van Morrison is also in town on Thursday night, but at ticket prices of $172 to $218 that show will only be seen by the trust fund babies and Bay Streeters. Yeah, it's Van Morrison, but wow! If you're going, let us know if it was worth it. On the opposite end of ticket prices, be sure to check out the Beats, Breaks & Culture Festival down at Harbourfront. You can't go wrong with a little Cadence Weapon, Shout Out Out Out Out, Kieren Hebden (a.k.a. Four Tet) & Steve Reid, among other performers. Best of all, it's freeeeee! Music to our ears!

Young Galaxy & Jetplanes of Abraham play the Drake on Wednesday night. Except you have to enter to win to get tickets, or something? I don't know. I'll be there, though.

Ya, you have to win tix for it, which is why I didn't include it in the listings. :)

Jetplanes of Abraham were one of the best shows I've seen in a while, I wish I could be there.

Cinematic Orchestra are part of Beats, Breaks and Culture on Friday too - I recommend that show to everyone.

I really hope the white stripes play some sort of free show in the downtown and that it is announced in time for me to check it out...
