A Spanking Good Time

2007_07_10leatherdudes.jpg Once a year Toronto the Good becomes Toronto the very naughty.

FFN (formerly known as Folsom Fair North) is Toronto's annual fetish fair. Now in its fifth year, the Fair features everything from play areas and parties to an art tent.

Festivities kick off July 20 with the Welcome to Toronto party, being held at Alibi. The next night is Agitator, FFN’s big deal sports-themed fetish blowout at the Opera House. The FFN web site says Agitator will "kick your ass." If a good ass-kicking sounds like your cup of tea, you should know that Agitator does have a dress code. Sports-themed getups are the order of the evening, so dust off your old high school football pads and jock strap. Don’t bother putting a jersey over top. For those of you who were never athletically inclined, leather and rubber are also acceptable. Also be aware that New York DJ Scotty Thompson will be headlining at Agitator.

The weekend comes to its glorious climax on July 22, when the bears, otters, leather ladies, tops, bottoms, and switches will all gather under the Conservatory Dome in Allan Gardens to get down with their bad selves. Those who need to cool down and let their skin breathe after an entire weekend of wearing leather and rubber can chill out and enjoy the RECON entertainment stage, featuring acts like Brian Kent, CrackPuppy, and Cougar Party.

Money made at the Fair goes to benefit The Toronto People With AIDS Foundation.

So get on out there and hurt someone you love, kids. Just remember to keep it safe, sane and consensual.

The Welcome to Toronto Party takes place at Alibi (529 Yonge Street) on July 20. Agitator is at The Opera House (753 Queen Street East) on July 21. Doors open at 10 p.m. The fair itself starts at noon on July 22 at Allan Gardens (19 Horticultural Avenue). Photo by Bitpicture from the Torontoist Flickr Pool.
