Anyone up for beating the shit out of a car on Wednesday night?
Today it rests comfortably in the mainspace of Mercer Union, but tomorrow this car is scheduled to be hoisted up by a crane in the courtyard of MOCCA (952 Queen Street West) for a piece entitled Beater by Anitra Hamilton. Bystanders will be asked to smash the piñata car apart with sledgehammers, an activity deemed ideal for those with rage issues, a hatred of cars or a healthy respect for Mexican culture.
The fun starts at 8 p.m. on June 27 and is not intended for children. Rumour has it that the car will spill out nacho chips and tequila.

In first or second week of January every year, U of T Engineering runs a real car smash, complete with (usually) flaming guitars, pickaxes and fundraising for the United Way. Check it out in 2008!
sounds like it'll be a smashing good time!
