Toronto wants you to get on the environmentalism bandwagon and help make the city more eco-friendly for a day (because it would be too much effort all year round, of course). The second annual Green Toronto Festival will be held on Tuesday June 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nathan Phillips Square. Have lunch courtesy of Field to Table, which emphasizes healthy, locally-grown produce, learn about sustainable home design, building, and renovation from the Earth Friendly Renovation Team, and check out portable wind turbines and solar energy panels.
Canada’s first hybrid limo service, Green Limousine, will be there to show how they accommodate eco-weddings. NaturoPack, a Toronto-based, non-profit responsible packaging organization, will continue fighting the good fight to persuade the City to ban Styrofoam take-out containers. Be sure to catch Toronto’s own "eco-troubadour" Chris McKool, the highlight of the closing concert. Then we’ll have to wait a whole year for another chance to showcase how Toronto can be green.

Here in Seoul fast food restaurants use reusable plastic cups (when eating in) instead of the one-use waxed paper ones. When you're done you empty the ice and leftover drink into a special receptacle and the straw and lid go in the plastic recycling bin. It's a relatively small thing, but there's really no reason we couldn't do it in Toronto.
