Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It’s our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

We chose this shot by Flickr pool contributor c.hernandez because of how it portrays the quintessential summer night in downtown Toronto. The blurred traffic, the darkening sky, the warm-weather clothing—this is a scene where you can almost hear the music spilling-out from restaurant patios and smell the food, the garbage and the car exhaust. These are not all necessarily our favourite things about the city, but it reminds us how Toronto can be vibrant and exciting—even when standing still and waiting for the light to change.
