The Daily Photoist: buddy (2)

Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

With Woofstock over for another year, there's no question Toronto has a soft spot for cold noses and wagging tails. So do we, which is why we love this bone's-eye-view of "Buddy" by Flickr pool contributor c.fernandez. Since dogs spend most of their interaction with humans looking up at us, what we like the most about this photo is how the viewpoints are reversed. And imagine being a small creature and seeing Buddy's grizzled form looming on the horizon!

Buddy is one of Toronto's 250,000+ canine residents, and despite our city's 1,500 parks, there are only 32 designated off-leash areas. As for Woofstock, an estimated 140,000 dogs and owners descended upon St. Lawrence Market, where 200 companies were peddling their wares for anyone who was suchagoodboy! Yes! Suuuuchagoodboy! There was even a speed dating service that matched dog owners with similar interests. Let us guess—people who like long walks in the park?
