Narula's Closed, and Other Options Less Veggie

narulapic.jpgToronto vegetarians are mourning the closure of East-end veggie haunt Narula's Chaat, Dosa & Thali House. Recently, the windows were papered up and the exterior now displays a large "for lease or rent" sign. The owners decided it was time to retire.

We'll miss the all-vegetarian fare, the sunny patio, and Tuesdays, when everything on the menu was $2.25. (Seriously: Your entire meal was $2.25!)

So, where to go now?

It appears that veggie options are shrinking. According to Veg.ca, the Siddhartha Pure Vegetarian restaurant across the street will soon be changing to a non-vegetarian menu. (Though they will be retaining some veggie content.)

That'll leave international chain Udupi Palace as the only pure vegetarian option on the Gerrard Street strip. Granted, most of the restaurants in Little India offer a host of vegetarian options, but few of them can guarantee that meat dishes are being cooked in a separate environment.

No!

While I'm not a vegetarian, I'm most certainly a fan of dirt-cheap Indian food.
