Leah McLaren, Fashion Critic

In this column in Saturday’s Globe, our girl Leah McLaren takes Paris, Lindsay, and Nicole to task for their crimes. No, silly! Not their DUI's—she's talking about their sartorial offences! Taking a page (or two, or three) from the Fug Girls’ book, Leah catalogues the celebs’ offences one by one.

But her assessment is a bit confusing. For example, she claims that Jessica Simpson’s worst fashion infraction has been "popularizing Ugg boots in North America."

Uggs? Seriously? That’s her biggest problem with Jessica Simpson? What about, oh I don’t know, incidents like THIS? Or THIS??

Also baffling is Leah’s egregious claim that celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe "generally looks okay." According to Leah, Zoe’s only crime is "aiding and abetting" young starlets. Ahem. (Keep in mind that Leah's main problem with Nicole Ritchie is her "unrepentant self-starvation.")

Leah also takes issue with black leggings, which is understandable. Many people see the trend as a deplorable borrowing from 1980s fashion. That’s fine. But if that’s the case, maybe girlfriend should give up the hot pink lipstick.

Yeah, if oompa loompa/Cousin It/emaciated Yoda is the look you're going for.

But then again, look where this is coming from (worst headshots in the biz).
The pink lipstick is bad, but the old phlegm coloured turtleneck was worse!

What's so special about Leah McLaren that her column gets two postings here within a week? Is she really causing that much of a stir with what seems to be straight-from-last-year opinion pieces?
