A Brand New 'Do: Good for You and Peru

2007_07_21Vanessa.jpg A great haircut will make you feel cute, sleek and sassy. An even better haircut will make you feel cute, sleek and sassy and help children in Peru learn to read.

On Sunday, June 24, Evoke Salon at Yonge and Eglinton will donate 100% of profits from all services to Para el Mundo, a non-profit organization that works with the community of Máncora, Peru.

Para el Mundo organizes and facilitates education, health and social services in Máncora. Current projects include teaching first aid classes to high school students, providing free or low-cost English language classes to all Máncorians and organizing legal workshops on a variety of topics. Most of the funds raised at Evoke will go towards a community library; more information will be available at the salon on Sunday.

Evoke is a lovely place for a haircut; the stylists are amazing, and they’ll stop cutting your bangs just long enough for another sip of whatever beverage you're drinking. On Sunday only, Evoke is offering haircuts for $35 (haircuts usually start at $50). Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended; they're available between 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and can be made by calling 416-482-4247.
