Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It's our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

Really, how could we resist a long-exposure fireworks shot following Victoria Day weekend? This explosive soirée was captured last night by Flickr pool contributor bigdaddyhame on Perth Avenue. We love the razor sharp quality and almost daytime-like lighting effect against a night sky, but also the lawn chairs drawn up by the community and the miniscule, fenced plot of lawn. Sure, this looks like a reckless house blaze waiting to happen, but it shurr was purty.

Haha, I loved how every major burst of fireworks in the distance was followed by a wailing fire truck siren.
Pretty picture. Stupid people. It never seems to hit home with people how much respect fireworks need until they experience the consequences first hand. A house down the street from me nearly burned to the ground last year because some kid was playing with a roman candle. These old houses in Toronto are so sensitive to fire already, putting an exploding rocket in your front yard just isn't the smartest thing a person could do.
Fantastic photo.
